Wow, Siva Samoan night was so exciting!

On Sunday 10th of April, my family and I went to Papakura PICP to practise our Siva Samoa.

We got dressed up after church and had a little snack. Then we headed out the door at 3 o'clock and arrived at 3:59. We waited for people to arrive because it was just my family and my friend’s family. The people arrived and we started off with a prayer led by my father.

First we sang a lot of songs and we went over the words and the tunes because we weren't singing it correctly. I tried singing with all my might and I was chosen to sing all of the songs, because I had a very good voice.

After that the Papakura conductor taught us the Samoan Siva. She showed us a lot of movements, we were swaying, clapping, bending, jumping and turning. Soon we had lunch. There was rice mixed with coco which is pronounced in Samoa cocolisa and some garlic bread, it was delicious.
Lastly we closed off with a prayer and said goodbye to each other.

My favourite part was when I was chosen to sing the songs because I tried my very best.

Learning intention: We are learning to use descriptive language to make my writing more interesting.
Success criteria: I know I can do this when I do this when I use verbs to describe my weekend.

Do you know how to pass the ball?

Wow, Rippa Rush is hard to play!
On Friday 8th of April, Room 7 had our second Rippa Rugby session. First we played a little warm up game. Hamish placed us into two teams, there was a yellow team and a green team. Soane had the ball first and he ran straight towards our goal.
After that, my team scored another goal because Vaughan passed the ball to Rhonda and she ran quickly past the goal. After that, we had to form a circle because we were practising our passes and we had to switch the ball left and right.

It was fun because I learnt how to pass the ball to my team. My favourite part was when the yellow team scored two goals because we all tried our best in the game.

Learning intention:
We are learning to write a recount.

I know I can do this when I write an orientation, followed by the activities and then a conclusion of my second Rippa Rugby session.

Do you play for the Marist Club?

On Friday 1st of April, Room 7 played our first Rippa Rugby session on the field. We met our coach whose name was Hamish, he was from the Marist club.

We  played a game called Rippa Rush. Coach Hamish split us into yellow and green teams. I was playing for the green team.  When the yellow team had the ball, I tried taking it off but I couldn't because they ran so fast. When it was the green team’s turn, I caught the ball and ran away with the ball. I got 2 points because I dodged the yellow team.

It was so much fun. My favourite part was when the greens got 5 points because we tried our best to get a lot of tries.

Learning intention: We are learning to write a recount.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write an introduction, followed by the activities and then a conclusion about our Rippa Rugby session.
